Nader Farahwaschy, born in Germany, spent his childhood in Iran. In the midst of the Iranian Revolution, he returned to Germany at the age of nine, eventually studying international relations and medicine, and worked as a surgeon. Early on in his life, he developed an attraction theatre and photography,  joining theater groups and taking acting and photography lessons. Later on he entered into the field of film and filmmaking, attending various independent classes, seminars, and workshops on film, film editing and film production, realising his own first projects in the late 2000s. In 2012 he was invited with his short film ‘Dying twice' (Dobar mordan) to the Hamburg International Short Film Festival and was shortlisted for the German Short Film Award the year after. In 2014 he started working on the realisation of the trilogy project 'Being Lost'.
In 2015 the first part, 'The River. A 48 hour episode in the life of a filmmaker'
2016 the second part, 'Phase Eight'
2017 the third part, 'View from the balcony', were completed.
The short movie 'Resilience' was also completed in 2017.
In that same year, together with his longtime filmpartner Amin Seqatchi he co-founded MICROPOLIS filmproductions, based in Berlin and Tehran.
In 2018 the short film 'Donkeys' went into preproduction and was shot in February 2019.


Currently, he is working on the realisation of his first feature film. He lives in Berlin and Tehran.
