MICROPOLIS is an independent film production firm, based in Berlin and Tehran. Nader Farahwaschy and Amin Seqatchi joint forces in 2011 during their first common
film project ‚Dying Twice’, shot in Iran, and ever since have been working together. In 2017 they decided to merge and focus their efforts by creating their own film production firm.
MICROPOLIS was born with the vision of making independent movies.
The films which we create, are twofold in their approaches:
Either they are made with detailed precision along the script lines, conventional in a technical, preparatory and executing sense, with a larger crew and more
funding. Or, they are made from a single idea and an outlined expose, which are used as the sole guideline to move along, using only the human and technical resources available. With the second
approach, a very liberating, refreshing style, is pursued, allowing unpredictable elements to widen the perspective of the original idea and that of the plot. It also helps us in environments in
which film shooting in public and censorship in general are delicate.
In order to tell a good story, both approaches work for us. And that is what we are after: good stories. Stories which are personal, and its pleasures to be found
in layers beneath. Their underlying spirit, the beginning or ending are at times irritating. At the end, it is the viewer who will find out what it does or doesn’t trigger within. Our stories are
about ordinary people. People and their desire to either find, or return to certain places, or about their search for a person, who they invented in their imagination, yet their existence turns
out to be real, or about their fear of a frightful and recurrent ‚something‘, which they try to get rid of, over and over again, or about separation, pride and doubt. Whatever the stories, the
excitement of them we would like to share, repeatedly create and experience ourselves.
